Cara Markward joined more than 300 gymnasts at the 2005 National Testing for the T.J. Maxx Talent Opportunity Program (TOPs). The testing was held at the USA Gymnastics National Team Training Center in Huntsville, Texas on October 21-22, 2005. This program is designed to help identify the country's top 9, 10, and 11 year-old female gymnasts.

The testing was broken down into 2 days. Saturday was a 4 hour test of skills and Sunday was a 3 hour test of physical abilities. Although Cara did not make the TOPs National Team, she should be extremely proud. Her hard work and dedication paid off! She learned first hand how important it is to master the basics.
